Jacob Alan Gines - Recipient
In the Spring of 2007 Jacob graduated with a Masters of Architecture from the University of Utah and is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Utah. While teaching and working at a local firm Jacob is working toward his architectural licensure.
As a member of the 2006 Design Build Bluff team, Jake helped to design and build a home for Caroline Lameman and her family on the Navajo Indian Reservation just outside of Bluff, Utah. This construction opportunity provided Jake with crucial hands-on experience.
In addition, Jake has traveled throughout the world to study various cultures and their architecture. Jake has also conducted research and architectural explorations on “The Architecture of Hip Hop”; an ongoing study into the effect hip hop has had, can have, and will have on the built environment.
“I believe that we are inseparably connected to our built environment. Architecture is an outward and visible expression of who we are; either individually or collectively. Our lives have meaning and so should our built environment.”
